Provenance information | Numerous datasets giving information on the background environmental characteristics were used to determine the relative susceptibility of an area with regard to specific pollutants to each water receptor. Potential loadings to these receptors is determined at a septic tank level and is then aggregated to a 1km grid. Numerous processing steps follow, ultimately resulting in a national 1 km grid dataset showing the worst case relative risk in 4 categories from low to high. This is then intersected with a dataset of selected areas of special interest resulting in an 8 category dataset. In order to fully understand the processes used it is advised to refer to the methodology document linked in the Online Resources section. |
