If you need something more up to date than 2003/2008 there are two sources of data that could be used to generate such a map depending on your definition of Native Woodland.
There are two GIS shapefiles of forest parcels with associated variables such as species and planting year.
To apply for access to the GIS dataset for private and NPWS forest cover a form needs to be completed (can't attach but you can request it
Then email the form to Ann Cunningham (ann.cunningham@agriculture.gov.ie) and Frank Barrett will send out the data.
For access to GIS data on Coillte’s forests contact: Sharon Fitzpatrick, Spatial Data Manager (sharon.fitzpatrick@coillte.ie).
bringing both datasets into this database will make both easy to find, and remove current forms based approach
