Provenance information | Waterways Ireland is responsible for the water quality monitoring and assessment of the canals for the purposes of the WFD. The waterways covered include the Grand Canal, Royal Canal and the canalised section of the Shannon-Erne Waterway. The canals traverse eight catchments across Ireland, from the Upper Shannon catchment in the west to the Liffey and Dublin Bay catchment in the east, and are divided into 15 water bodies for the WFD canal monitoring programme. This table contains all the Canal Waterbody Risk results from the characterisation assessment carried out by Waterways Ireland in for the River Basin Management Plan 2018-2021. It was prepared using canal monitoring data for the period 2010 to 2016. The assessment was carried out to support the preparation of the River Basin Management Plan 2018–2021. |
