This dataset contains a register of Aquaculture Businesses listed obtained Fish Health Authorisation from the Marine Institute. All Registers are published and presented in accordance with the models outlined in COMMISSION DECISION 2008/392/EC of 30 April 2008 implementing Council Directive 2006/88/EC as regards an Internet-based information page to make information on aquaculture production businesses and authorised processing establishments available by electronic means. All Registers are updated as necessary. The register of Fish Health Authorised Irish Aquaculture Production Businesses covers operators across the Republic of Ireland in both marine and freshwater environments. The Marine Institute have been authorising fish health sites on an ongoing basis since 2008. An aquaculture production business, a put and take fishery or a commercial aquarium, must obtain Fish Health Authorisation from the Marine Institute via an online application process provided through the Fish Health unit website https://www.fishhealth.ie/fhu/fish-health-authorisation/apply-fish-health-authorisation. COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 2006/88/EC of 24 October 2006 on animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products thereof, and on the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals known as the Fish Health Directive. The Marine Institute (Fish Health Unit) is the Competent Authority responsible for the implementation of Council Directive 2006/88/EC. A Competent Authority is an organisation that has been legally delegated or invested authority, capacity, or power to perform a designated function. The Register is complete as necessary.
