Provenance information | Dataset created to map the Medieval and post-Medieval walled towns of Ireland as identified by Avril Thomas in her book “The Walled Towns of Ireland” Volumes 1 & 2 (1992), published by Irish Academic Press, Dublin. The dataset was created using GIS to locate a central point within each featured town. The Irish Walled Towns Network supplied attribute information and external information links. Dataset is very accurate as of March 2015 and may require updates periodically. |
