About the organisation
The Ocean Energy Ireland brand has been developed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Marine Institute in accordance with the requirements set out under the Offshore Renewable Energy Development Plan (OREDP) and the industry.
About the project and why it’s a showcase
The Ocean Energy Ireland webpage provides an overview of supports available in Ireland for the development of the Marine Renewable Energy sector. Our website provides access to Metocean data, maps, tools, funding and information relevant to Ocean Energy site assessment, development and management. The website also provides information to Ireland’s test sites which offer supports to the testing of Marine Renewable Energy Technology across all TRLs (Technology Readiness Levels).
Impact of the showcase
The webpage aims to show Ireland’s commitment to the sustainable development of the abundant offshore renewable energy resources and to increasing the indigenous production of renewable electricity. This will contribute to reductions in our greenhouse gas emissions, improving the security of our energy supply and creating jobs in the green economy. It also allows developers to engage with relevant support sectors in Ireland and where they can obtain the most relevant and up to date information. The website will be an evolving tool to reflect changes in the policy and regulatory framework within Ireland’s Ocean Energy sector.
