Eolas Dualfhoinse The surveys were carried out by experienced biologists using standardised field survey methods. Recorder 6 validation rules applied during data upload into NPWS species database. Data Capture Method: "A total of 171 x 1km Irish grid squares were selected throughout the Republic of Ireland. Three water bodies were selected randomly from each square for breeding frog surveys. A total of three return visits were made to each selected water body to assess frog spawning activity. The occurrence of breeding frogs (site occupancy) was recorded at each visit and the cumulative spawn mat area was recorded as the maximum estimate during any one visit. Data Capture Purpose: To make a quantitative assessment of the conservation status of the common frog Rana temporaria throughout the Republic of Ireland based on standardised field survey methods.
