This dataset holds records from the National Otter Survey of Ireland 2010/2011. Observations of mink have also been recorded and are included in this dataset, along with records of other non-targeted species (Fox, Badger, Heron, Dipper, Moorhen, and Coot).

Additional Kingfisher records are not openly available due to their sensitivity and can be requested by sending in a formal data request (see https://www.npws.ie/maps-and-data/open-data-policy).

The survey report has been published as Irish Wildlife Manual No.76. The otter is listed in Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive, and results of the survey went into the Article 17 Conservation Status Assessment for the species in 2013.
