Current Discussion

This data ought to be open so that entrepreneurs, non-profits and academia alike can innovate with it for the benefit of all Irish citizens.

If that's a pipe-dream, please at least make the eircode search more akin to a search engine. - Make browser extensions to enable searching from the address bar. - Leave the search box at the top rather than making us hit back to search again. - Integrate it with links to locations/directions in popular mapping applications.

I might be able to help advise if you would like to contact me (michael.martin@autoaddress.ie)

We are trying to make use of Eircode to provide accurate address details to ensure less fraud and better track and trace, we are prepared to pay but the licensing model is horrendous.

I strongly request making this access like all other countries to increase adoption of Eircode.

We understand that Eircode postcodes are publicly available but are not available to commercial organisations free of charge. Eircode offers two database products for purchase, the Eircode Address File Database (ECAD) and the Eircode Address File (ECAF). The ECAD contains the Eircode, postal address, geo-coordinates and aliases of addresses, while the ECAF contains Eircodes and postal addresses. Further information is available on Eircode website https://www.eircode.ie/business/products-and-services. Regards, Open Data Unit
